
In order to carry out all projects that our club is involved with throughout the year, each member is asked to join one or more committees.
- Agriculture and Conservation Arrange annual Farm-City Day where we celebrate agriculture in our society – held in November
- Appreciation night Arrange Appreciation Night for outgoing president including location, menu, decorations and speaker – held in September
- Awards Committee Arranges for appropriate awards for members. To be made up of past Kiwanians of the year to select current Kiwanian of the year.
- Back to school shopping Organizes Shopping Day: coordinates with DHR and Martin’s Clothing Store, signs up Kiwanian and community volunteers
- Bicycle Project Repair bicycles donated by Bill Wakefield and develop a plan to distribute to appropriate children
- Board of Directors Officers and Board Members
- Christmas Party Arrange plans for food, music, etc. for annual Christmas Party – typically held at Anniston Country Club.
- Eliminate – Kiwanis International Project Coordinate funding for Eliminate Project
- Endowment Fund Committee Looks over and monitors the investment accounts created by our club at the Community Foundation and makes recommendations on how to use the annual distribution from the fund
- Finance, Laws, Regulations & Regulations Interprets and resolves issues where there is a question concerning the bylaws and how they affect our club projects and decisions on donations or sponsorship of events or projects.
- House Committee Stages all banners, name badges and other items required prior to meetings, checks members in at meetings, logs visitors, member’s happy minutes, counts attendance and jackpot money, stores away all items after meetings
- Interclub Arrange visits to other Kiwanis Clubs and recruits members to participate in these visits.
- Key Club Scholarship & Students of the month. Works with Key Clubs (High Schools) to recognize and award motivated, hard-working, community servants within each club
- Kiwanis One Committee Coordinates a strategic look at ways to improve our service to the community. Fully funded the UCP sun sail and purchased a bounce house for the City of Anniston. Also, participated October 2021 with the stock the food pantry for Community Enabler.
- Membership Growth & Retention Leads the charge in keeping current members active and invested and will encourage recruitment of new members to grow our club
- Merit Committee Work to establish criteria for Honorary Members and present a slate of candidates for the Board to decide on from time to time for that designation.
- New Member Orientation Committee President-Elect serves as Chair and along with the committee arranges orientation for new members
- Pancake Day Organize volunteers, order supplies and heads sales teams to insure Pancake Day is successful – Largest committee and requires the help of all members!
- Pancake Day – Extra Volunteer Organizers Organizes outside groups to help with Pancake Day
- Pancake Day – Ticket and Banner sales Responsible for organizing ticket and banner sales for Pancake Day
- Pancake Day supplies Organizes obtaining supplies for Pancake Day.
- Program Committee Vice President serves as Chair and along with committee arranges for speakers at meetings
- Public Relations Works with all media outlets to publicize our events, projects – Maintains active, up-to-date presence on social media and on website
- Public Servants Day Invite Public Servants and schedule a relative speaker to honor their service to be held during a regularly scheduled meeting – typically held in late June
- Reading is Fundamental Organize club members to read to students at Head Start four times per year
- Salvation Army Drive Organize members to ring the bell during Christmas season in coordination with the Salvation Army schedule
- Service Leadership Projects (SLPs) Works with Builders Clubs (Middle Schools), Key Clubs (High Schools), Circle K (College) to maintain a healthy relationship by promoting our club’s involvement and investment in SLPs, and establish new clubs in our club area *SLPs also include K-Kids (Elementary), and AKTION Club (Living with Disabilities)
- Spiritual Aims Promote Comradery by arranging different individuals to open our meeting by sharing “thought for the day”, offer a prayer and lead Our Pledge of Allegiance
- Tutoring Committee Coordinates and provides tutoring to individual students at local elementary schools
- Young Child Priority One Distributes a portion of the money earned from Pancake Day sales to child-centered organizations who have applied for funds to help meet the needs of the children they serve
